their own devotions. We read them to the class each day as a free-form worship. It helped settle us down to the necessary, creative chaos of a newspaper class. In the fourth year, their teacher, Mrs. Annette Dammer, felt called to leave. She was to teach writing at a community college. They knew it was time to create the book, MEDITATION WARRIORS, which spurred the creation of We-eee! Writers' Ministries so they could self-publish. If we waited for publisher approval, our writers would be off to college.
We wanted a bound edition for them to travel with... By that summer, we were blessed with an agent in Nashville, Bruce Barbour, and a bi-weekly teen writers' group at Barnes & Noble. Those teens - most strangers to us and from all congregations - asked for a magazine. After a year building a 150+ page web site, we will be blessed to go to print in June, 2002. Every other year, we will bring out a new edition of the teen 2 teen devotion, through We-eee! Writers' and Teen Light. We also send out a free weekly e-zine willed with tips.
A long story, but a blessed one... Tell us about your Book?
Meditation Warriors-Teen to Teen Devotional
The book is simply a collection of devotions by teens, for teens. They share their failures and their successes - only to help other teens avoid the same landmines. Our goal was to bring a common-sense approach to a teen's Christian walk. Not "I'm perfect and you're not," but "I made it and you can, too. Here's what I did." No gory details or bragging - and not every devotion has an "answer", either. Several just tell one teens struggle. Clutching faith as a parent or grandparent dies. The desertion of a best friend. Temptation's pitfalls.
We are blessed with a Christian agent, Bruce Barbour of Literary Management Group who is handling the book for us. He can be reached at http://www.brucebarbour.com/ .
Are there any groups to join?
We encourage all teens to start their own "Un-cliques." No regulations - just Christian teens (even the curious Seeker) gathering to support each other. Their focus can be a reading group, writers' critique, sketch and pray group, or music swap. It really doesn't matter. The goal is positive support and a safe place to reach out and find God. Parents take the serious background, only there when needed. Mostly we provide the brownies, soda and a sofa. God provides the rest . . .
